Hydro Excavation

Hydro excavation uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to remove soil and expose underground utilities without digging with buckets or blades. The water breaks up the soil, and the vacuum pulls the debris into a tank on the truck. Because nothing hard touches the buried line, the risk of striking gas, electric, water, or fiber lines drops sharply.

It’s often used to pothole and verify the location of existing utilities before boring, to dig in tight or congested areas, and to clear trenches and excavate around sensitive lines. It pairs naturally with directional boring, since you can confirm what’s underground before you drill.
